STANLEY LEMON LEAVING UTMB

Inasmuch as the "important official closely associated with the University of Texas Medical Branch's Galveston National Lab," Dr. Stanley Lemon, and his departure are mentioned in the UTMB Faculty Senate's February minutes, I would hazard to guess that the "rumor" I reported yesterday is pretty much true.  Here's the sum total of what the minutes say about Lemon's departure:

"Dr. Anderson mentioned Dr. Lemon was leaving due to personal reasons."

"Personal reasons"?  Gosh, that only whets the ol' rumormill's appetite, eh?  As the fellow who sent me the link pointed out, the "terse announcement" would seem to indicate that somebody isn't happy.

TFA'S POLITICAL CONTRIBUTIONS I got an e-mail yesterday sent by a full-time TSTA employee and now apparently assigned to service TFA's members. The e-mail concerned the results of political races for which, as the e-mail stated, "the PAC" made a contribution. Knowing that TFA's political activity all but ceased over the Johnson years, I did a little quick fact-checking.
